Areas

A- Around Blaengarw

There are six routes in and around Blaenavon , with Blorenge to the East providing stunning views over Abergavenny. The hill behind Big Pit is  full of fantastic tracks, and even the Welsh version of a Grand Canyon!

B- Gwent Valleys

We have discovered 7 beautiful routes in the Gwent Valleys.  The hills either side of  Abertillery, Ebbw Vale,  Tredegar, New Tredegar and Fochriw are fully accessible and have some wonderful trails along their  ridges

C- Around Abercarn

D,E,F,- Around Pontypridd

There are 5 amazing Routes in and around Abercarn, providing access onto the ridge  of Mynydd Henllys, with gorgeous views over the Severn channel.  It also includes  the forest rides in Cwmcarn, and the Celtic Hill fort at Twmbarlwm.

D,E,F,- Around Pontypridd

D,E,F,- Around Pontypridd

D,E,F,- Around Pontypridd

Pontypridd is our home base, so we have divided it into -

SOUTH, with some hairy mud tracks through  woods around the Garth and Castle Coch. NORTH, with lovely rides around Cilfynydd and Abercynon.

WEST, with seemingly endless forestry trails in Llanwonno.

G- Around Caerphilly

D,E,F,- Around Pontypridd

G- Around Caerphilly

The ridge South of Caerphilly runs East to West and provides some wonderful views over Cardiff. There is a large network of forest tracks across this ridge, so we have chosen a few of our favourites.

H- Around Merthyr

D,E,F,- Around Pontypridd

G- Around Caerphilly

This is old industrial  landscape,  so some of the scenery is both fascinating, with old quarries and spoil heaps, mixed with incredible views over lakes and the Brecon Beacons.  It is also the home of Bike Park Wales.

J- Bwlch & Rhigos

K- Neath & Glyn Corrwg

K- Neath & Glyn Corrwg

These passes are the gateways to some of the most stunning ridge-ways in South Wales.  Many are now covered in wind turbines, giving them an other-worldly feel,  but still stunningly beautiful.

K- Neath & Glyn Corrwg

K- Neath & Glyn Corrwg

K- Neath & Glyn Corrwg

The forests either side of the Neath  valley  are vast, and provide access to the Arfon Argoed biking trails on the East and  the Sarn Helen Roman road on the West side, with the  deepest  puddles you can find.

L- Black Mountains

K- Neath & Glyn Corrwg

M- Llantrisant AND THE VALE

These provide some of the most remote and wildest scenery around, with mountains and lakes merging . They are  some of the most challenging, but rewarding routes you could ever hope for

M- Llantrisant AND THE VALE

M- Llantrisant AND THE VALE

M- Llantrisant AND THE VALE

There is a lovely forest and ridge behind the Royal Glamorgan Hospital covered in windmills. There is another ridge full of windmills behind Glifach Goch.

There are some lovely rides over gentle hills in the Vale of Glamorgan

N- Port Talbort & Swansea

M- Llantrisant AND THE VALE

N- Port Talbort & Swansea

Margam forest is a wonderful playground for MTBs with some hidden gems  such as the blue lake and the green pool! The hills North of Felindre provide spectacular views and great trails

O- Brecon Beacons

M- Llantrisant AND THE VALE

N- Port Talbort & Swansea

It doesn't get any better than this. There are two Roman roads cutting through the Beacons, along with the 7 mile bank at Talybont. This is some of the most iconic mountain biking in the UK.

P-West Wales

P-West Wales

There is some classic single track in Brechfa forest. The Prescelli's provide some amazing views, and we have discovered  some incredible low tide beach rides at Pembrey and Pendine.

Q- Mid Wales

P-West Wales

We felt we could not leave out some of the most well known MTB trails in Mid Wales, such as Coed-y-Brenin,  Nant yr Arian,  and Elan valley. (even though they are not quite in South Wales)

R- Around Llandovery

R- Around Llandovery

The Forestry around here is legendary- including Halfway and Crychan. However the highlights are the hills, which are huge, remote and stunning and include the hudden gems of Llyne Brianne and the Doethie valley.

S- Mynydd Epynt

R- Around Llandovery

This incredibly beautiful area is off limits for the most part because it it one huge army firing range. However they have created the "Epynt Way" which remains open to Bikers and walkers even when the red flag is flying.

T- Train & Bike

For those who like to catch a train, then bike home, there are two classic family friendly trails which make use of the long distance Sustrans routes, which are entirely off road bike trails.

U- Welsh Borders

Although strictly speaking this is not Wales,  from a geological and geographical view, it should be , since as we all know, Wales is hilly, whereas England is flat. It's simply a case of King Offa getting his Dyke in the wrong place!
